New wine list & lectures

Get ready to have your tastebuds tickled by P&O Cruises’ exciting new wine list. With a focus on home-grown wines from Australia and New Zealand the new wine list was trialled on Australia’s first superliner, Pacific Dawn earlier this month and will be introduced across the fleet between now and September 2008.

“We’re delighted to focus on the growing number of exciting quality wines being produced across Australia and New Zealand and support our local winemakers,” said Sture Myrmell, Vice President Hotel Operations for P&O Cruises.

Perfectly complementing the introduction of a new wine list is the Wine Lecture Program aboard Pacific Dawn.

In the coming months experts, such as Grant Burge (Grant Burge Wines), Simon Cant (Penfolds), Stephen McWilliam (McWilliam’s Wines), Wayne Stephen (Katnook Estate) and Duane Roy (Glandore Wines), will offer tastings, advice and lectures on everyone’s favourite fruit.

Pacific Sun’s makeover

Pacific Sun is set to undergo a host of exciting enhancements to its onboard fitness centre, spa and dining facilities this September. From bar refurbishments and a brand new steakhouse to a larger fitness centre boasting expansive ocean views, and the new Oasis – an outdoor relaxation area for adults with it’s own jacuzzi and brand new sun lounges – Pacific Sun’s on board enhancements are expected to create even more interest in P&O Cruises’ most popular cruise ship. The enhancements will also see ‘Your Choice Dining’ introduced to Pacific Sun from mid-February 2009. Stay tuned for an even greater selection of on board product enhancements that we will reveal in the next issue of Sailaway.

Barrel of laughs

In conjunction with the Sit Down Comedy Club, P&O Cruises has just the thing to tickle your funny bone while on board Pacific Dawn and Pacific Sun this year.

The late-night comedy club, featuring well-known stand up comedy performers, is available on selected cruises from September.

Pirates of the Pacific

Forget The Pirates of Penzance. Commencing July a brand new production, created specially for P&O Cruises, can be seen on Pacific Dawn. The lively stage show, Pirates of the Pacific, features a 12-strong cast and a seven-piece orchestra and will have guests interacting throughout to help crown a new ‘pirate king’. Taking place on an elaborate pirate ship stage, this exciting new show will combine comedy with song and dance routines that the whole family will love. Youth programs, including treasure hunts and the chance to build a pirate ship, will ensure that everyone understands the way of the pirate.
